Quick & Easy Installation into Plastic Components!
Why Use Bollhoff KAPTI® Limiters?
When fastening into plastic, traditional screws or bolts can be overtightened, which can lead to plastic material failure or loss of clamp force over time. The KAPTI® Limiter solves this problem by acting as a built-in support sleeve inside the plastic.
Strong Fastening Without Damaging Plastic
The KAPTI® Limiter is a small metal insert that is pressed into plastic parts to reduce chances of the plastic being crushed when a male bolt/screw is pushed through the limiter to secure the entire assembly joint. The KAPTI® Limiter is a smooth bore, no internal threads; and allows the male bolt to easily pass through the inside of the limiter. The KAPTI® Limiter helps reduce undue forces being applied to plastic assemblies and can adapt to varying application thicknesses.
Protects Plastic Component from Damage
The limiter absorbs stresses during bolt/screw tightening, which relieves the same stresses off the plastic. This helps prevent cracking and structural failure of plastic parts.
Secures Preload Force | Keeps Threaded Joints Tight Over Time
Helps prevent plastic creep (deforming) under clamping load to maintain the integrity and performance of the overall assembly joint.
Offers Design Flexibility
One limiter size can often be used for varying plastics and thicknesses, which simplifies inventory.
Creates a Permanent, Secure Fit
Installed by pressing or riveting into the plastic to help ensure a tight connection for applications exposed to fluids, dust, or environmental conditions.
Fast Installation for Cost-Efficient Production
Designed to support high-volume press-integrated or lower-volume manual riveting, in both cases, reducing assembly time.
Preservation of Material Properties
KAPTI® Limiters are mechanically installed by compressing or tightening the application. There is no need for heat or additional adhesives, so the integrity of plastic material remains intact.
KAPTI® Limiter Installation Process
- The KAPTI® Limiter is pressed into a hole in the plastic part.
- The installation process expands and locks the limiter into place.
- When a male bolt/screw is introduced, it will pass through the limiter and achieve clamp load, the metal limiter — not the plastic — will absorb the pressure.
This keeps the plastic part strong and prevents damage during assembly and long-term use.
Applications
The KAPTI® Limiter is ideal in any assembly where plastic parts need to be joined together for a long period of time.
- Automotive interior fastening
- Appliances
- Consumer electronics
- Medical devices
- Industrial assemblies
