A “Rivet Nut” is a variation of a standard RIVET, in that it is a counter-bored, tubular, one piece (the “rivet”) with internal threads (the “nut”). The Bollhoff RIVNUT ® and PLUSNUT® are branded rivet nuts that Rivet Nut USA™, a division of Cardinal Components, Inc., is authorized to distribute. The Bollhoff RIVNUT® is actually the ORIGINAL rivet nut. Bollhoff holds the original patent on the original rivet nut. Rivet nuts are also commonly known as a blind rivet nut, blind nut plate, Nutsert®, or threaded insert.

A rivet nut is installed into a parent material that is too thin to be tapped, generally 0.020–0.500”.  Then, a male bolt spins into the female rivet nut as to anchor a secondary attachment to the parent material.

In many instances, Rivet Nuts (or RIVNUTS®) and Pre-Bulbed Plus Body Nuts (or PLUSNUTS®) are generally stronger than the material used in an assembly.

Custom Order Rivet Nut Kits

As of January 1, 2024, the 70-1000 and 71-2001 kits are no longer available for individual kit ordering. However, if a customer would like to order a minimum of 25 of these Rivet Nut Kits in a single order we can accommodate this request with a lead time of 4 weeks.

Each rivet nut kit comes in a molded plastic case that contains an assortment of rivet nuts (also known as threaded inserts) and the manual installation tools needed. Included in the plastic case is a label that notes the part number, part description, installation tool, and an easy-to-follow set of installation instructions.
